Maps test
Both maps are optimized for desktop, laptop or mobile device.
Map Below: Cardinal Point apartments using Google embed – could be easily used on any page in which there’s just a single location to display. Anyone can create these if they know our API key and use this page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/embed/quickstart
Map below: Properties map using Google My Maps – use controls on top black bar to open in full window or expand the menu. Can have multiple editors of this map, shared via Google Drive.
This map could have just family properties to keep it simple, then a separate map for SROs, like we do now. I like the menu that pops out from the left, but its difficult on mobile devices.
Property listings:
Below is one option for property listings (which used to come with the maps widget, but we will now have to recreate it). User Experience: Right now, there is a lot of scrolling that must be done on the Austin Communities page, and the only filtering tool is the map. Using a descriptor along with the name of the property, like “North Austin” in the visible part of the dropdown may help people find their place based on area of town. Or, these properties could be grouped into single dropdowns based on the area of town they’re in, like “North Austin Family Properties”, “South Austin Family Properties”, etc.. Lots of options for organizing the page to make it easier to find a place with this new map style.
