Donations Needed to Replenish, Expand our Emergency Assistance Fund

Due to an increasing number of requests, Foundation Communities’ emergency assistance fund is depleted heading into 2023. The fund helps our residents remain current on their rent, and pay for food and utilities during times of unexpected hardship, such as the loss of a job or a serious family illness. It can really make a difference, as Kimberly Rogers, a resident at Cardinal Point Apartments can attest. Over the past several years, Kim has received emergency rental assistance following crises including COVID-19, emergency dental surgery and also caring for a family member who lives outside the Austin area. Now, she is in a better place, financially.

So far this year, the program has granted emergency assistance totaling over $159,000 for 193 families. We’ve already exceeded our annual budget for that program. so, we are hoping to increase next year’s budget to $200,000 to meet the increased need.
