Help families build a better financial future and achieve their dreams.
Tax Help
About the program: Provide free tax preparation and secure refunds for hard working, low-income families.
Great for: Individuals
Time Commitment: 30hrs during the season, shifts available Mon-Sun 8AM-8PM, late January – April 15th
Requirements: Virtual training (7-15hrs to be a certified tax preparer). Will be eligible to receive CE credits and letters of recommendation
Location: Available at 9 different locations across Austin
Great for: Individuals

About the program: Empower our residents and neighbors with the financial tools they need to manage their budget, reduce debt, and improve their credit scores.
Great for: Individuals
Time Commitment: Minimum of 30hrs over the year, sessions scheduled based on your availability
Requirements: Pre-screening questionnaire & interview, background check, online Financial Coaching Training & live sessions (8-10hours), Credit Builders Alliance Credit as an Asset training (9hrs)

Welcome new residents home and help us build community.
Welcome Home Basics
About the program: Welcome home our new residents by supplying or sponsoring basic household items (sheets, cleaning supplies, cookware) that help turn their apartment into a home!
Great for: Individuals or groups
Time Commitment: Time to shop and drop-off or donate directly online!
Requirements: Suggested spend of $150-$200 for household items
Location: Virtual or drop-off at one of our properties across Austin!

Supper Clubs
About the program: Provide a nutritious meal, mingle, and build community with residents at one of FC’s communities. Volunteer groups bring the meal, serve, and cleanup (serving 40-60 individuals).
Great for: Groups of 8-15
Time Commitment: 2hrs on site and meal prep or catering pick-up. Recurring supper club hosts are encouraged, but one-time events are welcome!
Requirements: Covering cost of supplying meal & supplies (~$500-$1000)
Location: Available at 9 of our supportive housing apartments across Austin!
Great for: Groups of 8-15

Learning Centers
About the program: Provide classroom support, homework help, and lead enrichment activities at one of our on-site learning centers for resident children.
Great for: Individuals
Time Commitment: 2-3 hrs/week for the semester. Fall and Spring shifts between 3:00PM-6PM and Summer term between 10AM-3PM
Requirements: ages 16+, virtual training (~2hrs), background check

English as a Second Language
About the program: Serve as an assistant English teacher for adults who want to communicate more effectively, expand their employment opportunities, and navigate daily life with more ease.
Great for: individuals
Time Commitment: 2hrs/week for the semester, shifts at 9:00 – 11:00 am or 6:30-8:30 pm
Requirements: Online Training (~ 2hrs)

Healthy Food Pantries
About the program: Help with the distribution of fresh, healthy foods to Foundation Communities’ residents and local clients.
Great for: Individuals
Time Commitment: 2.5-3hrs twice a month, shifts typically around 3:45PM-6:30PM or 10:15AM-1PM
Requirements: Virtual healthy food pantry and civil rights trainings (~2hrs), background check

Time Commitment: 15hrs during the season (November 1st- January 15th)
Requirements: Ages 18+, background check, virtual training (8hrs CMS training and 3hrs program training)
