Prosper Centers

At the Prosper Centers, our mission is to build pathways to financial wellness, higher education, and health coverage so that those who face barriers have opportunities to prosper.

All of our services are free and available to individuals who make less than $60,000/year and households of 2-4 that make less than $85,000/year. Income limit increases by $5,000 for each additional family member.

Health Coverage

Health Coverage icon
Prosper Health Coverage is a free service available to individuals and families in Texas regardless of income level. Our team of navigators can simplify healthcare by reviewing Marketplace plan options, enrolling you in a plan that meets your needs and budget, and assisting in understanding your insurance to access care.

Tax Help

Tax Help icon
Our IRS-certified tax preparers impact the financial lives of thousands of Central Texans each year by providing much needed tax assistance such as filing your tax return, filing amendments and claiming the maximum refund. We also help file previous year tax returns, respond to IRS letters, and complete ITIN applications.

Financial Wellness

Financial Wellness icon
Our trained financial coaches offer classes and one-on-one support to help you achieve your financial goals. We provide tools and resources you can use to improve your credit, pay off debt, create a budget, and build your savings. We also help community members in YourTexasBenefits enrollment and renewal.

College Hub

College Hub icon
The College Hub is the only place in Austin where all prospective and current college students can receive free help in their journey toward a credential or degree. Work one-on-one with a coach to complete financial aid and scholarship applications, apply for college, enroll in classes, explore degree pathways, and plan for your career.

Locations

Prosper Center – North

Located in North Austin across from ACC Highland, Prosper Center – North is our flagship location. This particular location is close to many bus routes. The first floor is wheelchair accessible and this location has free parking.

Prosper Center – South
Prosper Center South
Prosper Center – South is our newest location that opened in 2019 thanks to generous support from University Federal Credit Union. The center is conveniently located in South Central Austin near IH-35 and Oltorf Street. Free parking available and wheelchair accessible.

Q1: What’s the difference between the Prosper Centers and Foundation Communities?
A. The Prosper Centers are a part of Foundation Communities. We service not only Foundation Communities housing residents but individuals and families that live in Central Texas as well. Our services are available for all people who meet our income requirements, regardless of immigration status, education background, or preferred language.
Q2: Are the Prosper Centers in North Texas?
A. The Prosper Centers are based in and only operate in Austin, Texas. In Dallas, Foundation Communities owns and operates the Community Tax Centers. For more information on their services, visit their website here.
Q3: Do you only service people in Austin?
A. Our services are available to people outside of Austin as well! We primarily focus on serving Central Texans.
Q4: Can the Prosper Centers help me apply for Foundation Communities housing?
A. The Prosper Centers are focused on building pathways to financial wellness, higher education, and health coverage. For support on applying for Foundation Communities affordable housing, please visit the housing section of the website.
